China’s Ministry of Finance has announced that import duties for Gen 6 and smaller LCD glass substrates will increase from 4% to 6% in 2014, while duties for Gen 7 and larger will remain at 4%. As far as we know, import duties on aluminosilicate cover glass will also remain unchanged, at 3%. Continue Reading
As previously reported, FPD international 2011 in Yokohama had fewer FPD exhibits this year; also lacking were exhibits for major components like color filters, polarizers, and backlight units.
However, glass makers had a strong presence. Corning got a lot of attention for its Lotus announcement, but other glass makers showed new technology as well. There were several advancements in cover glass, high performance substrates, and thin glass.
